1 Timothy 3:14 These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1 Corinthians 1 (NKJV)
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- This is not just addressed or commanded to the Church at Corinth
- Pauls letter to the Corinthians is also for the universal Church
4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 4 Paul’s Paternal Care
14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. 15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you, imitate me. 17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. 21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?
1 Corinthians 7:17 But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.
- Let’s start from the very beginning, before the foundations of the world were placed.
Job 38(NKJV) – right before creation
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 “Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
- sons of God is usually known as direct creations of God- Angels, Adam
- When God created the universe the universe, The Angels were a witness and already present.
The Angels were created before the universe. - Now the lets go to the fall of man
Genesis 3 The Temptation and Fall of Man
3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
- This is the oldest trick of the devil, the devil will try to explain away or reinterpret God’s commandments.
- The devils lie is that there will be no judgement, do not fear God, do what you want.
- the temptation is lust or covets, to be like or equal to God, that’s what everyone wants “Equality” or modern culture in these recent days.
- The best lie is the lie that has some truth to it. That’s why Islam, and many other religions and cults still use Jesus as some sort of religious figure.
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
16 To the woman He said:
“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:
“Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
- What the Angels witnessed is a destruction of Leadership, Headship and Authority in the Garden of Eden.
- Eve obeyed the serpent; Adam followed Eve and disobeyed of God.
Sectarianism and Divisions
1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
- Chloe reported to Paul about the problems in Corinth without being anonymous which means she stands by her report and not just gossip.
12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. 16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
1 Corinthians 3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1 Corinthians 12 Unity and Diversity in One Body
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.
15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honourable, on these we bestow greater honour; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honour to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
Ephesians 5 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
Mark 938 Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
39 But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40 For he who is not against us is on our side. 41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.
- There are divisions in the Church. Similar to we are of this “denomination” etc. That is why I visit many different Churches in different denominations (Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Baptists, Presbyterian, Brethren etc) and call followers of our Lord Jesus Christ brothers and sisters that believe and follow essential doctrine of the Holy Bible because I’m non denominational. We have unity in essential teachings.
- I reject fellowship (agreement) with those who have heretical theology, contradicting the word of God. Groups that don’t have essential Bible doctrine, reject the Godhead / Trinity and/or preach a corrupted Gospel such as Mormon Church(Latter Day Saints), Jehovah Witnesses, Marcionism, Progressive Church(LGBT),Catholic Church, Iglesia Ni Cristo/Church Of Christ- Rejects Lord Jesus’ Deity) etc
Galatians 1
1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), 2 and all the brethren who are with me,To the churches of Galatia:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- Paul is warning Galatians if someone impersonates them or even copy their appearance in their form or look like him and preach any other Gospel then let him be accursed(anathema)
- Sounds like Apostle Paul was warning us hundreds of years before from false prophets such as Muhammad /Islam, and Joseph Smith/ Mormons who both were visited by “so called” “angels” ,were probably more like demons or possibly just their inventions because their theology only derives only from 1 source/Author and that is their cult leader ( Muhammad / Joseph Smith). They have no other prophet/ eye witness or back up their claims. They just started to write books about their own religion that would lead people away from the Gospel and salvation.
The definition of Gospel: 1 Corinthians 15 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
1 John 2 Deceptions of the Last Hour
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
1 John 4
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
Order in the Church
1 Corinthians 11
1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Head Coverings
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. 3 But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
- The Lord Jesus submits, is obedient to executing the Heavenly Fathers commands and plan.
- But because the Head of Christ is God, this does not mean the Son of God is inferior to the Heavenly Father.
- (Philippians 2:5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [c]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him(Hebrews 1:8-13) and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonours his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonours her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved. 6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.
- If a woman were to take the man’s place then she should go all the way and cut/shave her hair like a man, which is shameful and rebellious.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
10 For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.
- Head covering is a symbol of Headship and Authority.
- What is more important is restoring the order of God’s creation. Restoring the lost Headship after the fall of man.
- This is against normal Jewish culture back then where men wear the cap on their head kippah, yarmulke, or Koppel.
- Head covering is not a cultural issue, Angels transcend human culture. It is a Headship and Authority issue.
- Doing this, women can minister to the Angels during worship.
- Head covering should be worn during spiritual related activities such as prayer, worship etc, especially in the Church.
- Head cover should be a proper symbol like a veil, I see a lot of women in assemblies who practice head covering but wear hats or fancy hats. This ends up looking like fashion rather than a symbol of authority which becomes substitute glory where the fancy hat becomes the replacement for her nice hair.
11 Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12 For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.
13 Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? 15 But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. 16 But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.
NLT – But if anyone wants to argue about this, I simply say that we have no other custom than this, and neither do God’s other churches.
NIV – If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.
NET – If anyone intends to quarrel about this, we have no other practice, nor do the churches of God.
AMP – Now if anyone is inclined to be contentious [about this], we have no other practice [in worship than this], nor do the churches of God [in general].
KJV – But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
NKJV – But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.
- Early Church leaders around the 2nd and 3rd century such as Tertullian wrote about veiling of women.
Conduct at the Lord’s Supper
17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. 20 Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper. 21 For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and another is drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.
- During the Gospel preaching’s you usually hear me say to be Born Again the best summary is this verse at Acts 2 v38 but let’s continue after that.
Acts 2
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
- Church practice:
1 Apostles Doctrine
2 Fellowship
3 Breaking of Bread(Lords Supper)
4 Prayers - We are commanded to do this as often or as many times to proclaim the Lord’s death till he comes
- Lets continue reading
1 Corinthians 11 – Institution of the Lord’s Supper
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
- Often does not mean sometimes, when we feel like it. In greek its hosakis and it means what it says, as often or as many times – ὁσάκις
Examine Yourself
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
33 Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.
- There are consequences for disobedience: chastening, loss of reward or blessings.
Remember (1 C or 11:30 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.), in Greek this can also mean to die. - If you remember my testimony when I was stubborn, I was refusing to get baptised and almost died with a cardiac arrest.
Hebrews 12 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lordloves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
- This means people have passed away because of disobedience in the Corinthian Church. Ananias, with Sapphira broke their promise and died Acts CH5.
1 Corinthians 14
Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
- Pursue the gift of prophesy.
2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.

e. to act as a prophet, discharge the prophetic office: Revelation 11:3. (On the word see Trench, N. T. Synonyms, § vi.)
- To prophesy doesn’t just mean to predict the future, it relates more about divine revelation, God Judgements and Kingdom.
- The prophet’s job is to speak to the people with divine inspiration or to speak the word of God to the people. The difference between a prophet and a priest is the priest speaks to God, makes intercessions and praying to God on behalf for the people. The Lord Jesus is our High Priest Hebrews CH5 , he offered himself as a sacrificial lamb of God for our sins (Isaiah 53, John 1:29)
- Preaching the Gospel is to prophesy, this should be the gift everyone should be pursuing as this was the last commandment our Lord Jesus gave before ascending to heaven.
- Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel”
- Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,
4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
Tongues Must Be Interpreted
6 But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching? 7 Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played? 8 For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle? 9 So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air. 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance. 11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. 12 Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; 19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Tongues a Sign to Unbelievers
20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature.
21 In the law it is written:
“With men of other tongues and other lips
I will speak to this people;
And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me,”
says the Lord.
22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe. 23 Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. 25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.

γλῶσσα glōssa, gloce-sah’; of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication, a language (specially, one naturally unacquired):—tongue.
Thayer’s Greek Lexicon [?](Jump to Scripture Index)
STRONGS G1100: γλῶσσα, -ης, ἡ, [from Homer down], the tongue;
1. the tongue, a member of the body, the organ of speech:Mark 7:33, 35; Luke 1:64; Luke 16:24; 1 Corinthians 14:9; James 1:26; James 3:5, 6, 8; 1 Peter 3:10; 1 John 3:18; [Revelation 16:10]. By a poetic and rhetorical usage, especially Hebraistic, that member of the body which is chiefly engaged in some act has ascribed to it what belongs to the man; the tongue is so used in Acts 2:26 (ἠγαλλιάσατο ἡ γλῶσσά μου); Romans 3:13; Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:11 (the tongue of every man); of the little tongue-like flames symbolizing the gift of foreign tongues, in Acts 2:3.
2. a tongue, i. e. the language used by a particular people in distinction from that of other nations: Acts 2:11 ; hence, in later Jewish usage (Isaiah 66:18; Daniel 3:4; Daniel 5:19 Theodotion; Daniel 6:25; 7:14 Theodotion; Judith 3:8) joined with φυλή, λαός, ἔθνος, it serves to designate people of various languages [cf. Winer’s Grammar, 32], Revelation 5:9; Revelation 7:9; Revelation 10:11; Revelation 11:9; Revelation 13:7; Revelation 14:6; Revelation 17:15. λαλεῖν ἑτέραις γλώσσαις to speak with other than their native i. e. in foreign tongues, Acts 2:4, cf. Acts 2:6-11;
- Tongues are an intelligent language that should be interpreted.
- We should pray in a common language so that the Church and its members are edified “edification”. If someone prays in an unknown Tongue it should be interpreted. If there is someone with the Gift of Tongues there should also come with the Gift of interpretation.
- (Acts 2 : 2) When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all [a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”

Order in Church Meetings
26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret (KJV). 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.
36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
1 Timothy 2
2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Men and Women in the Church
8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
- Main Points in 1 Cor 11,14 and 1 Timothy 2:
- Men are to lead in Church. Men are not to wear head covering in Church.
- Women are to be silent in the Church, Women should wear head covering as a symbol of authority. Their prayers are to be in silence. Women can still participate in singing.
- Women should not teach in Church nor have authority over man
- By doing women are providing proper ministry to the Angels present during worship.
- I keep hearing this explanation by “modern” teachers that the book of Corinthians is only / this only applies for the Corinthian Church because of their culture and behaviour, Women there are chaotic or they try making additional explanations to why this practice can be ignored and reject some of the commandments given.
- If we take this logic, what do we say about the commands given here to Timothy? Do these only apply to Timothy? Is Timothy a woman? He’s being brought up by Paul to be an elder.
- These types of explanations and teachings which try add or make excuses to why we should ignore the book of Corinthians or certain passages, this is dangerous teaching as it is similar like what Satan said to deceive Eve and bring forth the destruction of mankind and the order in God’s Kingdom.
- Satan’s lie makes you doubt God’s command making you think God didn’t really mean that, and also offers and tempts you with lust, to lose contentment of what God has given you. This happened in the Garden of Eden and this is happening now feminist, “woke” culture, LGBT… “Gender inclusiveness / Equality” movement, “Pride days/ parades”. Destroying the core family structure that God designed.
- Eve was tempted by Satan how she would be like “EQUAL” to God. Modern “woke” culture of gender equality is a satanic doctrine.
- In a secular sense there is nothing to stop women from voting, being /president/CEO/manager/boss etc but the order of God in the Church commanded in the Holy Scriptures is not the same.
- There are no female priests in the Old Testament, no female church leaders or elders in the New Testament nor female priests in the future millennium Kingdom Temple, and we will get to Deborah later. It is quite clear in verse 12:
I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. - Do we lower God’s Standards so we can please more people and draw in more people?
Do women stop wearing head coverings because it’s weird and out of culture now days?
Do we allow women to speak in Church because it’s according to modern equality culture? - This can be taken in both extremes were people completely disregard the Lord’s commands; this can get worse into as it won’t end here. If we ignore parts of scripture what is to stop us from removing more? Now days the new corrupted translations such as the NRSVUE(New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition) removed homosexuality as a sin (1 Cor 6:9)etc, which is an abomination in the sight of the Lord. For the sake of “woke”, ”gender equality” and “feminism” and “modern” lifestyle.
- There is a warning for churches that allow corruption, lowering God’s standards are not an option.
- Just like what Pastor Kim said yesterday, We need to boldly preach the Holy Bible, the Word of Truth without the fear of offending people. We ought to worship God in Spirit and Truth John 4:24
Revelation 2 – the 7 Churches of Revelation
18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write,‘These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: 19 “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. 20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. 23 I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.24 “Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. 25 But hold fast what you have till I come. 26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—as I also have received from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star.29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’
- Or also to the other extreme where women can be oppressed too if we are not careful,
don’t become like Islam. - Women are not inferior to Men. They are different with different roles in the Church according to God’s order. Just as the Head of Christ is God, The Lord Jesus was obedient, submits to the Heavenly Father but is equal to the Heavenly Father. God the Father commands, God the Son acts and executes the plan / judgement.
1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
Colossians 3 – The Christian Home
18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
- If women are asked to be silent in Churches what are they to do now?
Titus 2 – Qualities of a Sound Church
2 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behaviour, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
9 Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
- Women are asked to raise children, homemakers and families, do good works of ministry rather than to lead in the Church.
- In Philippines an example is one of our assemblies (Rosario Christian Church), After worship and the Lords Supper, They split and have 4 separate ministry for different groups: Sunday School for Kids which a sister can teach, Youth ministry for Teens and young Adults, Men’s ministry for men and Women’s Ministry where women can be teachers of good things.
- Women should be teachers especially to other younger women. Just not to teach in Church or have authority over a man.
- We are to take the whole counsel of God rightly dividing the word of Truth, Don’t cherry pick what verses or which books you like and ignore the ones you don’t and also at the same time know which covenants and commands that are applicable to the Church.
- That’s why I don’t like just looking at single bible verses but I like looking into passages and the context of the chapter and other relevant passages in other Bible scriptures.
- The best commentary for the Bible is the Bible.
Ephesians 1
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
2 Timothy 2
14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Bediligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
KJV – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Acts 20 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
- I get asked many times “what about Deborah, the prophetess?”, well lets hear what she has to say.
Judges 4 – Deborah
When Ehud was dead, the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord. 2 So the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth Hagoyim. 3 And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he had harshly oppressed the children of Israel.
4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “Has not the Lord God of Israel commanded, ‘Go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun; 7 and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand’?”
8 And Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!”
9 So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.
- The man (Barak) who was commanded to lead the battle but he was weak and wanted Deborah to lead.
- Men with female leaders will receive no Glory, no Honour from the Lord.
- Deborah was an exception during this time due to weak men. There are no other examples in the Bible of women Prophets.
Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
- There are no female Priests in the Old Testament, in the Tabernacle and the Temple.
- There are very specific temple , tabernacle practice for Priests in commanded in Leviticus
- Incorrect practice in the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant results death (The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu was consumed by fire – Leviticus 10 )(Uzzah touched the Ark and died 2 Samuel 6),
Leviticus 10 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. 2 So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. 3 And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying:
‘By those who come near Me
I must be regarded as holy;
And before all the people
I must be glorified.’ ”
So Aaron held his peace.
4 Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.” 5 So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6 And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, “Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the Lord has kindled. 7 You shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you.” And they did according to the word of Moses.
- Then the rest of the chapter talks about specific practice and conduct for Priests.
- Another example is the Ark of the Covenant and specific commands.
- I won’t get into too much detail but the Ark of the covenant was built to contain the 2 Tablets ( the 10 Commandments), instructed by God to Moses in Exodus CH25 also known as the Ark of Testimony which is placed in the Most Holy (Holy of Holies) in the tabernacle / temple.
2 Samuel 6:6 And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God. 8 And David became angry because of the Lord’s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day.
- It was right in the eyes of men to stop the Ark of the Covenant from falling, David got angry because Uzzah died and their motives were good but they were commanded by God not to touch the Ark. Because David was upset, he left the Ark of the Covenant at Obed so Obed was blessed instead.
9 David was afraid of the Lord that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” 10 So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 11 The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.
12 Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.
- After the Lord Jesus’ return to Earth and when He sets up His Kingdom and Reign to rule the earth for 1000 years (the Millennium Kingdom) there is specific manner of worship and conduct of the people in the future Temple. See Ezekiel CH40+
- What about this verse? We are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
- If you continue reading the whole chapter you will understand the context. You must take care in not just read single verses and build theology from that but build Biblical context taking the whole council of God and the rest of the Holy Scriptures.
Romans 6 Dead to Sin, Alive to God
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- The commandments given here in 1 Corinthians 11,14 and 1 Timothy 2,3 are not just law; this is the order in the house of the Lord.
- Even a great prophet such as Moses disobeyed God out of frustration with the Children of Israel, he was asked to speak to the Rock but instead struck the Rock again. The consequence was he lost the blessing to enter into the Promised Land.
- The Rock and the Water that flows from it was meant to be a symbols and/or foreshadowing of our Lord Jesus and his blood which is the Living Water, John CH4, 6, 19.
- Head Covering is a symbol of Authority.
1 Samuel 15:22
So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice
- One of the questions I get asked is what about female evangelist or missionary women?
What if the Church is new and there are no male leaders to preach, pray and teach?
Mark 16
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
- Everyone, Men and Women are still commanded to go to the world and preach the Gospel.
- The world is not the Church.
- Just as how there is no woman pastor, female priests. There is 1 female prophetess in the book of Judges and there is a reason for this because men were weak.
- There is a difference between a prophet and a priest.
- Women can prophesy to the world. Prophesy doesn’t just mean to foretell the future events as it’s usually assumed to be. It is to deliver divine message and divine revelation. Preaching the Gospel is prophesying.
- Corinthians 13 and 14 talks about pursing the gift of Love and Prophesy
but Spiritual gifts is another topic. - If the Church is new and there are no male leaders, just like the time of Judges and Deborah, Then women will lead out of necessity because men are weak but men should still lead. Women should give way to men once they are spiritually mature.
- I know there are a lot of sisters who are far more passionate, zealous, hard working and dedicated to studying God’s word more than us men. Like me, men tend to be lazy. So women are asked to ask the man in their house to do the research(1 Timothy 2:11)
- Head covering is not grounds to break fellowship; Apostle Paul calls the Church at Corinth Brethren even if they weren’t following standard Church order but He calls them to follow the Lords commandments. Jesus said:
John 14:15
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
- I don’t force my mother nor my sister to wear head covering, sometimes we forget, we are not perfect. But when I remember I always encourage them to do so as this is the conduct of worship in the Church as commanded in the Holy Scriptures.
- If you sin you won’t immediately lose your salvation, Your salvation is secure in the hands of the Lord Jesus and the Father as said in John CH10 and salvation and Gospel comes from the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the penalty for our sin.
Ephesians 2
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
- What is being asked here is not that hard to do. It’s a matter of we can set our desires aside and follow the Lord.
- What the Lord Jesus did on the Cross, taking on the full judgement of God for the sin of the whole world is hard.
Mark 14:36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
Matthew 6:10 Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
- These commands will be your decision and your responsibility if you obey them or not; it will be us as individuals that will answer to God.
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
- So the decision is yours, Do we please ourselves and do as we wish?, do we please others?
or do we please our Lord, our God.
